One of my favorite tasks of working in the library is handling patron requests. I like knowing what other people are reading. I like knowing what is coming to our shelves for the public to checkout. One of the best parts of being a PINES member library is the ability to request items from other PINES member libraries. As a worker of a PINES member library, this means receiving transits to fulfill patron requests. This reception makes every day feel like a holiday with presents to open.

Newly cataloged books are a bit different. The newest of the new like the ones arriving soon are only available to be requested and picked up within their owning library system during the first six months of their shelf life. Even more special is that these new books were not just selected because they are new but because you requested them. Our collection development coordinator pours over new book lists and upcoming releases and takes into serious consideration the reading preferences of our local patrons -- YOU!

We are not always able to purchase every item on the requests list and have been adding more resources for accessing your most wanted reads over the years. Ask us about our digital resources.
